Procedure

30-Day Review Commenting Period – Nevada State Policy Office

Nevada State is committed to having an inclusive and transparent, collaborative process to develop and review institutional policies. 

1. As part of the policy development process, Nevada State will post final draft policies of new and revised institutional policies on the College Policy Library website for a 30-day review period.

2. Draft policies will be posted after they have been reviewed by Division of Culture, Planning and Policy (CPP) and before going to the President for signature.

3. Faculty, staff, students and other interested parties are encouraged to review the draft policies and provide feedback. This review will help ensure that policies are implementable, understandable, equitable, accessible.

4. Comments will be gathered by the CPP after at the end of the review period and are provided to the policy responsible department.

5. The responsible department will review all feedback and make necessary changes.

6. A communication to all campus groups will be formulated CPP in regards to the feedback that was taken and the feedback that was dismissed with liable reasons.

Guidelines

1. Once the policy draft is finalized, the policy steward will contact CPP for the initiation of the 30 day review.  

2. The policy draft will be posted by CPP on the policy webpage and will be shared to the NS community via various communication channels.  

3. When the 30 days are completed, the policy draft will be taken off the webpage and comments/questions/concerns will be put together for the responsible department 

4. The responsible department will have 2-3 weeks to review and update the policy based on the comments submitted by the community 

5. The responsible department will put together a response to each questions category and provide it to CPP via email, policy@nsc.edu  

6. CPP will communicate these responses to the community via various communication channels.
